The school motto, “Follow the Etiquette and Morality; Pursue the Knowledge and Truth,” has been inherited and given a new connotation in the new era.

Philosophy

The school philosophy, “Respecting Freedom and Stimulating Self-awareness,” showcases the teaching concept of the new era, respecting the laws of education and inspiring the self-awareness within both students and teachers. Students understand other cultures and people and respect and acknowledge divergent perspectives, and become respectful, responsible global citizens and to participate in the global issues.

Mission

The IBDP programme in Chongqing No.1 Secondary School aims to help students gain deep and broad based knowledge as well as important critical thinking and research skills. Students are supported to flourish physically, intellectually, emotionally and ethically and the programme is respected by leading universities across the globe.

Inquirers – their natural curiosity has been nurtured and they actively enjoy learning. In High School, they are encouraged to take the most challenging courses in which they can be academically successful.

Communicators – they receive and express ideas and information confidently in more than one language. As students progress through classes, they work with teachers to master content through rich engagement with complex ideas.

Risk-takers – they approach unfamiliar situations without anxiety and have the confidence to explore new ideas. Our High School students are willing to take risks, think critically and reflect on their actions and knowledge. 

Knowledgeable – they have explored themes that have global significance and have acquired a critical mass of knowledge. The school expects to inspire inner potentials of students to develop self-awareness for learning by a series of educational behaviors such as imparting knowledge and moral upbringing on the basis of respecting the nature of human being.
